Most people have a hard time believing that it’s possible to create an online business around your passion and make more than some doctors and lawyers. But, the truth is, if you do a search on Google, you’d find several successful online entrepreneurs who’ve changed their lives by learning how to start and grow their own online business.

Who in the World am I?
My name Is Nathan Lucas and I run my own online business from the comfort of my home (at the time of writing this, I still do it part-time as I work a full time job in the Military).
All of my income up to this point has been from Affiliate Marketing. This is probably the most simplest way to get started making money online in your own business.
Currently, I make anywhere between $60,000 – $100,000+ per month with my online business. Yes, you read that right, those numbers are not a typo.

My answer to that is yes! It’s been a crazy few years building this online business, but boy oh boy has it been worth it.

Now, I want to share some of the best ways to actually start making money online.
But, before I dive into these different ways to make money, I want to be very clear on something. Making money through an online business is not a get rich quick scheme. It takes work, focus and drive. This post is meant for people who have a real interest in making money through their own online business, knowing it will not just be handed to them, but it will require effort.
The first thing to know when learning how to make money online.
Before you choose which one of the following ways you will pursue in your own online journey, I want to share something very powerful with you. This is the exact reason I’ve been able to make multiple 6-figures and why some of the top online entrepreneurs are making a killing in their own business.
The name of the game is building an audience through value driven content.
If you can build an audience that feels like they know, like and trust you, they will buy from you, or buy products and services that you recommend to them.
Pretty simple to understand, no?
The reality is, most people don’t make money online because they don’t provide enough valuable content to the market place to build an audience. If you’re able to accomplish this, the world is your oyster. lol But seriously!
Now, let’s get into it…
4 of the Best Ways to Make Money on the Interwebs
While we go through these different ways to make money I want you to dream BIG and have a vision of creating your own successful online business. If it gives you any juice, understand that real people are making over 6-figures with every single one of these methods.
1. Online Courses
This is probably one of the most lucrative online business strategies in existence today. Why? because you can charge an incredible amount of money in exchange for valuable information you package into an online course. Don’t believe me? Go do a quick Google search of successful online course creators and you’ll come across some success stories of entrepreneurs making a killing selling their own online courses. Some, making multiple 6-figures per month. Insane right!
One website you can use to create courses absolutely free is called Teachable. This is a platform that allows you to create courses, host your videos and deliver your content to your customers. A more premium platform entrepreneurs use is called Clickfunnels. This platform not only allows you to create courses, but also create high converting sales funnels to sell those courses.
2. ADS
There are couple of really popular ways to make money with ads, one of which I’ve been able to make tens of thousands of dollars. The first, is to allow ads to run on your own website (blog). You can set this up with Google Adsense and when visitors come to your website and either view or click on an ad, you get paid.
The other way is to start a YouTube channel and allow ads to run on your videos. This is how you monetize at the basic level on YouTube. When someone clicks on another persons ad that plays before, during or after your video, you get paid.
Making money with ads is great, you definitely can make money doing it, but in comparison to the other things I’m sharing with you, I wouldn’t use it as a primary source of income.
4. Membership Sites
Remember when we talked about selling online courses? Well, imagine if you could make passive income by selling informational products and services. This is basically what a membership site is. You can create content and sell it as a membership. One of the big differences between online courses and membership sites, is that usually memberships sites are updated with new content. This is such a great way to get paid every.single.month!
Let break down a little example for you about how I’m making over $9,000 per month with a membership site.
I make $18 per month, per member for this specific membership. I’ve sold over 2,000 memberships over the last six months or so. Take into account attrition and we’ll just say that only 500 people have maintained their membership. That’s 25% retention rate.
That equates to $9,000 per month, every month. Pretty cool huh!
Obviously, this is a very low membership fee. Imagine if that membership would pay me $30 per member. That would be $15,000 per month!
So, I hope this gives you an idea of how powerful membership sites can really be.
5. Affiliate Marketing
The best for last. I mentioned this at the beginning of this post and I’m mentioning it here again because I believe it’s the easiest way to get started making money online. Why? First of all, because you don’t have to create a product. There are so many entrepreneurs who have such a great idea for creating an online course. They put all this work into it and finally launch it, only to find out the market does not want the product they are offering. With affiliate marketing, you can choose to promote products that have been already proven to sell like hot cakes.
With affiliate marketing, you also don’t have to worry about about customer support. Because you are just a middle man, the company of the product you’re promoting is completely responsible for handing customer support and refunds.
What the heck is affiliate marketing?
If you’re unsure what affiliate marketing is, it’s the process of recommending products or services to someone and when they buy as a results of your recommendation, you get paid.
Affiliate marketing has truly changed my life over the course of the last three years. It’s how I got my start in online business and I believe I will always incorporate it into my business one way or another.
